Abstract

Passive voice is one of important material that should master by students because passive voice usually used both written and spoken form. The students should have good ability in learning and understanding this material because many of students faced the difficulties and confused in mastering passive voice construction. Error is something that is often done by students when studying passive voice. The existence of error will make students and teacher know lack of mastery to the material and also it will make an opportunity to improve teaching and learning for the students. This research was conducted to find out types of error and also the dominant error in changing active to passive voice. This is a descriptive qualitative research in which the subject was the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Kotabumi North Lampung Academic Year 2017/2018 of XI MIPA 2 class which consisted of 40 students, because four of students were absent, the researcher took 36 students as the sample. The data were collected through observation and documentation. The research procedure were collection of a sample of learner language, identification of error, description of error, explanation of error and evaluation of error. The result of the error analysis process showed that students committed error into four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The highest percentage error is misformation with
51,9%, the second one is omission with 35,13% percentage, the third is addition with 10,27% and the lowest is misordering 2,70%, and it can be concluded that most students at the eleventh grade MIPA 2 of SMA Negeri 3 Kotabumi North Lampung have not yet fully mastered the passive voice material.
