Abstract
Reading comprehension is a kind of skill in reading which makes readers can comprehend meaning from written text so that the readers get information and knowledge from them. However, most of the third semester students of the English Language Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Kotabumi in the academic year 2019/2020 had difficulty understanding reading texts. Here, the researcher conduct a research to find factors that can influence students' reading comprehension. Researcher used a questionnaire to students and conducted an interview with one of the lecturers in the reading course as a data collection technique. Based on the results of the data obtained using interviews and questionnaires, researchers found several factors affect the reading comprehension, namely concentration, prior knowledge, interest, motivation, educational background, age and gender and vocabulary. From those factors, the most influential factors in students perspectives that affect students’ reading comphension there are four factors, namely concentration, prior knowledge, interest and motivation that are most influential in the perspective of students that affect students' reading comprehension in third semester students of English education study programs at the Muhammadiyah University of Kotabumi in the academic year 2019/2020.
