Abstract

Reading is important in language learning. Reading is an activity in pronouncing, spelling, to make words to sentences that have meaning. reading a lot makes someone especially students master reading better. Reading is one of the four skills that exist in English and usually faced when people are learning English especially students who learn a language. In learning English, reading is a prominent language skill which can be useful to help people especially students to increase their ability about the language. Reading is one way to search information that needed therefore, a reader needs some skills to support reading process. The problem of this study is formulated into following question there is significant the correlation between students’ reading habit and their ability of writing descriptive text at the eleventh social science grade of SMAN 01 Abung Selatan academic year of 2021/2022. This research aims to knowing the relationship between students' reading habits with Their writing skills are in eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Abung Selatan. This is using correlational research. The sampling technique was carried out randomly to select a sample. The population of this study was eleventh grade students at SMAN 01 Abung Selatan which has 42 students. The number of samples in this study were 30 students. The research instrument used to collect data was in the form of questionaire skala likert to measure reading habit and a questionnaire test writing to measure the ability of writing descriptive text. The results of this study indicate that Ha is accepted with the results of the hypothesis test that r-count is greater than r-table and results from the t test is that t-count is greater than t-table, meaning that there is a strong relationship. There is a significant difference between the students reading habit to students' ability of writing descriptive text said the 2021/2022.
