Abstract

Well-formed sentence are considered correct because the sentence follow the right sequence. However, a sentence will be considered an error if it has more than one meaning. It is important to pay attention to error sentences because they can produce unclear effects and also have the potential to cause differences in the interpretation of each reader. This research is categorized as qualitative research which objectives to find students error in writing recount text, the dominant error, and also the dominant types of errors made between male and female students. In this research, data will be collected through a recount text writing test at the social 1 tenth grade with a total of 19 students as research subjects, this is because students in that class more often make error in writing compared to other classes. In this research, researcher used a writing test instrument to collect data. The results of this research analysis show that 88 errors were found in the students’ written recount text. In detail, researcher found 24 Omissions, 5 Additions, 54 Misformations, and 5 Misorderings. From the research results, it can be seen that the dominant error sentences found in students’ error in writing recount text is Misformation with a total of 54 errors. And for male and female students whost dominantly is male which consist of 36 misformation errors and female 18 misformation errors.
